Captain Marvel: Best Retro Website in 2019

The superhero movie Captain Marvel was shown in danish cinemas in March 2019 without getting much attention. I hadn’t noticed the movie until recently…

I got a tip from my friend, Malthe Hartmann, about a crazy ass retro website – a microsite about the movie Captain Marvel. And what a site!

Marvel.com/captainmarvel sends the visitor back to the future – at some time in the nineties, where words as multimedia design, cd-roms, gif-animations and clip-art were sci-fi, and knowing how to make them could turn even a pale and flabby computer geek into a sex symbol.

So, turn up the volume (there’s great background music on the site), and enjoy a little tour of what is probably the best retro microsite of 2019. You can either visit the site on marvel.com/captainmarvel , or by having a look at the little screencast I made.

There’s one thing revealing that the site isn’t made in the nineties: The website is fully responsive. So You can even enjoy it from Your smartphone.

And there’s one more hidden gem: If You look at the source code, You’ll see a large text image – a nice, big ASCII-artwork. ASCII art was also hot in the nineties;-)

Anyways, this is probably my favorite site of 2019 – What’s Your favorite retro website?
